The mission of SEED, Inc. is to develop healthy communities by training leaders and strengthening organizations. 

History of the Organization

Frederick and Erika Hill are developing a resource development and consulting ministry called the Society for Education and Economic Development, Inc. SEED, Inc. was formed in September 2002.

Originally from Monrovia, Liberia, Frederick and Erika came to the United States in 1979.  Frederick received his BS in Biological Science and Erika her BA in Elementary Education from Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.  Erika is a graduate of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio where she received a Master of Science in Personnel Management.   Frederick has a Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Health degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Since 1990, Frederick served as Director of Financial Development for the Center for Urban Missions in Birmingham, Alabama.  Frederick provided financial development expertise to support the ministry’s goals.  In 1998, Frederick and Erika went as independent Christian missionaries to the African Country of the Ivory Coast and served there for more than two years.

Mission Statement

The purpose of the Society for Education and Economic Development  is to develop healthy communities by training leaders and strengthening organizations. SEED uses as its theme the words of Jesus Christ from the biblical text in Luke 6:48 that a wise person “….is like a man building a House who dug deep and laid a Foundation upon a rock.”

To encourage local program development through mentoring and training relationships.

To expand the economic development resources available to faith-based and Community Organizations.
